Adiantum capillus-veneris.  MAIDENHAIR FERN.  VENUSHAIR FERN.  SOUTHERN MAIDENHAIR.  Perennial.  “Throughout most of the state,” 1500-7000 feet [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: 1200-6800 feet (Mohave and Coconino counties) [PP&B;].

~Adiantum jordanii.  CALIFORNIA MAIDENHAIR.  Perennial.  FNA indicates this as ranging in California and Baja California near the Arizona border, so it is possible that it may be found in the western part of the state [FNA-2].

Argyrochosma jonesii (=Notholaena jonesiiPellaea jonesii). JONES’ CLOAK FERN.  JONES’ FALSE CLOAK FERN.  Perennial.  Meriwhitica Canyon (Havasupai Reservation, Mohave County), Havasu Canyon, Marble Canyon (Coconino County) [K&P;]. Grand Canyon NP: Inner Canyon, 3550-3200 feet. [PP&B;, N. j.].

Argyrochosma limitanea (=Notholaena limitanea;  Pellaea limitanea).  SOUTHWESTERN FALSE CLOAK FERN.  CLIFF BRAKE.  Perennial.  Marble Canyon and Wupatki National Monument [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: 2450-4600 feet (Mohave and Coconino counties). [PP&B;, N. l.].

Astrolepis cochisensis ssp. cochisensis (=Notholaena cochisensis).  CLOAK FERN.  COCHISE SCALY CLOAKFERN.  Perennial.  Grand Canyon National Park: 2000-2875 feet (Coconino County) [PP&B;, N. c.].  FNA range map shows this in most of Arizona except northeast corner [FNA-2].

Astrolepis cochisensis ssp. arizonica.  ARIZONA SCALY CLOAKFERN.  Perennial.  FNA range map shows this in most of Arizona except near borders [FNA-2].

Astrolepis integerrima(=Notholaena integerrima).  CLOAK FERN.  HYBRID CLOAKFERN.  Perennial.  Grand Canyon National Park: Reported from Devil’s Bathtub near Toroweap Point, 4600 feet (Mohave County) [PP&B;, N. i.].  West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon of Coconino County: not encountered by authors, entry based on 1989 collection [DP-21(1)].  FNA range map suggests this may occur throughout the region [FNA-2].

Astrolepis sinuata. (=Notholaena sinuata).  WAVY SCALY CLOAKFERN.  WAVY CLOAK FERN.  Perennial.  Grand Canyon National Park: Saddle Horse Spring, Toroweap; and Inner Canyon (Mohave County), 1800-4500 feet [PP&B;, N. s.].  FNA range map shows this in central and southern Arizona, so it may also occur in the southern part of the range of this flora. [FNA-2].

Bommeria hispida.  COPPER FERN.  Perennial.  Mountains of Yavapai and Gila counties, 4000-6000 feet [K&P;].  FNA range map shows this only in extreme southern Arizona [FNA-2].

Cheilanthes covillei.  COVILLE’S LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Black Mountains (Mohave County) south.  2000-5000 feet [K&P;].  Northern Hualapai Mountains, Mohave County [JANAS-24/25].

Cheilanthes eatonii.  EATON’S LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Coconino and Navajo counties., 3000-8000 feet [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: Havasu Canyon, Inner Canyon, 3200 feet [PP&B;].

Cheilanthes lindheimeri.  FAIRY SWORDS.  Perennial.  Prescott (Yavapai County), mountains of Gila County, 2000-8000 feet [K&P;].

Cheilanthes parryi (=Notholaena parryi).  PARRY’S LIP FERN.  LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Grand Canyon National Park:  Inner Canyon from Clear Creek to Grand Wash Cliffs, 1200-3500 feet (Mohave and Coconino counties).  “Most common desert fern in dry hot situations.” [PP&B;, N. p.].

~Cheilanthes pringlei.  PRINGLE’S LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Mazatzal Mountains of Gila County, part of which are in the domain of this flora [K&P;].

~Cheilanthes villosa.  VILLOUS LIP FERN.  Perennial.  FNA range map shows this in northwestern Arizona, and thus in the domain of this flora [FNA-2].

Cheilanthes wootonii.  WOOTON’S LIP FERN.  BEARDED LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Grand Canyon south, 3000-9000 feet [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: along Bright Angel Trail, Inner Canyon, 3300 feet (Coconino County). [PP&B;].  Northern Hualapai Mountains, Mohae County [JANAS-24/25].

~Cheilanthes wrightii.  WRIGHT’S LIP FERN.  Perennial.  Mountains of Gila County, possibly in our area [K&P;].

~Cheilanthes yavapensis.  YAVAPAI LIP FERN.  Perennial.  FNA range map shows this as far north as central Arizona, and the name also suggests it may be within the domain of this flora [FNA-2].

~Cryptogramma acrostichoides.  AMERICAN PARSLEY FERN.  FNA range maps show this species in extreme southern Utah and southwest Colorado, so should be looked for in Northern Arizona [FNA-2].

~Notholaena californica ssp. californica.  CALIFORNIA CLOAK FERN.  FNA range map shows this in east-central and southeast Arizona, so may be within the range of this flora [FNA-2].

Notholaena standleyi (=Cheilanthes standleyi;  Notholaena hookeri).  STAR CLOAK FERN.  Perennial.  In ravine next to Cholla Campground overlooking Roosevelt Lake, Gila County [LD].

Pellaea atropurpurea.  PURPLE CLIFF BRAKE.  PURPLE CLIFFBRAKE.  Perennial.  Havasu Canyon (Coconino County), Heber (Navajo County), Mogollon Rim (Coconino and Gila counties), 3500-7000 feet [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park:  Havasu Canyon, Inner Canyon, 3200 feet (Coconino County) [PP&B;].  West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon of Coconino County [DP-21(1)].

Pellaea glabella ssp. simplex (=Pellaea glabella var. simplexPellaea atropurpurea var. simplex).  SMOOTH CLIFF BRAKE.  Perennial.  Kaibab Plateau, Grand Canyon, San Francisco Mountain, Walnut Canyon (Coconino County), 6500-9000 feet [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: 6800-9000 feet (Coconino County) [PP&B;].

Pellaea intermedia.  INTERMEDIATE CLIFFBRAKE.  Perennial.  Mountains of Gila County, 3500-7000 feet [K&P;].  FNA range map shows this extending farther north in our area [FNA-2].

~Pellaea lyngholmii.  LYNGHOLM’S CLIFFBRAKE.  Perennial.  FNA range map shows sole known occurence in center of state, possibly within the domain of this flora [FNA-2].

Pellaea truncata (=Pellaea longimucronata).  SPINY CLIFF BRAKE.  Perennial.  Grand Wash Cliffs (Mohave County) and Grand Canyon south [K&P;].  Grand Canyon National Park: 3250-5000 feet (Mohave and Coconino counties). [PP&B;].  Northern Hualapai Mountains, Mohave County [JANAS-24/25].

Pellaea wrightiana.  WRIGHT’S CLIFFBRAKE.  Perennial.  Near Flagstaff, and in mountains of Gila County [K&P;].  West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon of Coconino County [DP-21(1)].  FNA range map shows this extending through Northern Arizona into southwestern Utah [FNA-2].

Pentagramma triangularis ssp. maxonii (=Pityrogramma triangularis var. maxonii).  GOLDBACK FERN.  MAXON’S GOLDBACK FERN.  Perennial.  Northern Arizona south on FNA range map [FNA-2].  K&P; list it only in Gila County in our area.
